“Le Tour des Jardins”

2011

This is one of 3 of my paintings in progress at Leo Street!

Below are the finished paintings. Each is hand signed, titled and dated.

Pink Hydrangea

10 x 9 inches -Prints are $20

This lovely hydrangea was painted at a private home on  Leo Street in Shreveport for the 2011 “Le Tour des Jardins”.

The garden is owned and single handedly planted by a a lovely 88 year young woman. You can see all of the love and care that goes in to every corner of her yard. (The only thing is she doesn’t mow or edge herself- really!) IMPRESSIVE!

Geraniums & Petunias

6 x 13 prints $20

Please Click ON this photo to appreciate the full image.

The front of the house was lined in hundreds of gorgeous red geraniums and petunias! From the first time I drove by her yard, this picture was in my mind. The blooms reminded me of musical notes of color. I love this painting!

The Corner Garden

10 x 13 prints $20

This was my first painting of the day. I loved the long purple flower stalks and lovely splashes of color bursting through a sea of lovely greens. The hues, tones and the values of the green ranged from sunny yellow green to shady purple green undertones.

Personally  I am a new gardener. My goal is to have a yard full of edible flowers and veggies. We ate our first cucumber yesterday… We have 25 tomatoes planted, and enough peppers to fill a swimming pool of salsa this fall.

In a few years, with hard work maybe I’ll be painting my own garden with ‘Le  Tour des Jardins”.

To purchase the prints – Please send an email to NotMyPlanet@Live.com with your selection- I will get back to you with follow up instructions.

I will be adding photographs of this garden.

THE WALL!

WOW- this is a HUGE wall to paint! I am part of the Shreveport Tourist office mural. The brilliant design has been created by Ali Bahler. I am a hands on artist helper making this project come to life!

We are using the grid method to transfer the image from tiny graph paper squares onto about one x one foot squares. It is a slow and laborious process that has been used for centuries. After a a few hours it makes your eyes crazy crossed.    Aside from up and down ladders, step stools and other times on lifts…

This next photo will not even give you an idea on the scope of this project. This photo is of artist Jerry Davenport who stands at over 6 feet tall! There are over 12 of the purple film strip panels that will be full of iconic Louisiana images!   Come visit and see how this project progresses!   CHECK OUT THE HOT AIR BALLOON!

Saturday the 19th!

The balloon was over our house first!

We happened to be going in the same direction!
