My Opening Blog

Blogging is a funny action.  I write my best pieces in my head while either driving or taking a shower. To be completely honest until my pal Roxanne created this website for me… I was always just slightly computer literate, which meant I bought domain names with every intention of creating a website… but never knowing how to get it working. Rox has brought my cyber-world to life!

I’m 45, when I went to Braintree High computer classes were boring looking electives…. as was typing class. Where was the advice from my guidance counselor? So these two decisions have affected my life… possibly forever. I am a quick 2 finger typist. And I have Rox to make the computer magic look easy. If their is a blogging etiquette I haven’t read it… so if I don’t follow any rules or  format, relax and join me for the ride.

Who am I and why am I blogging?

I’ll start out with the ‘why’. Corniness aside I feel like I have some things to share, as opposed to blathering nonsense.

Who? Su Stella, artist and writer.

That was the drive through window

What do I have to share? Create, and grow in front of your eyes?

  • “Memory Jewelry”~ I am working with Sherry Sellers who lost her daughter Brande last year. Brande left a legacy when she donated most of her organs. Sherry and I have a new line of fused glass jewelry where we incorporate ashes, hair or even a scrap of a love letter into jewelry. $10 from every piece is donated to LOPA- Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency. We are just beginning our journey into this business.
  • “Hurricane Damage”~ is my solo art show booked for the 5th anniversary of the storm, at the Multi-Cultural Center of the South in Shreveport. I’m using my photos from pre- and post Katrina, and morphing them into art. I’ll be showing you sneak peek of the show as it comes together. Mark your calendar for August 29, 2010!
  • “Who Dat Dogs” has bitten me in the butt. If you are a lover of these 4 legged beasts… then you will love to watch where this goes. Stay tuned for the t-shirts and other cool art. Plus follow my new project- I was selected to create (with the help of the students and adults), my first public art project based on dogs with jobs especially those that help the disabled.

Enough for now… come along and see whet happens!

Peace, Health and Prosperity

Su* Stella
