Believe it or not August 29th is the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina!
For those that don’t know me, Curt and I had 3 properties on the Gulf Coast first for Katrina and for Ivan.
“Hurricane Damage” is the name of our photo morphed art show. I chose the name “Hurricane Damage” on for a specific reason. When asked personal questions, Hurricane Katrina usually comes up in the conversation.That is usually followed by the sentence
“Oh, you are from New Orleans.”
“No, Biloxi” then they usually say “Oh?”-
Most people don’t realize that more than the 9th ward was hit. Whole towns in Mississippi were devastated! Literally blown off the map. Quick quiz- where did the following hurricanes hit-
1. Ivan 2. Ike 3. Charles 4. Rita 5.Camille
- Don’t feel bad… the persistent ladies from the 9th ward at least gave my storm a >sympathetic sigh< whenever you say the name.
The Multi- Cultural Center of the South is hosting our show. Artists Su Stella and Curt Harville are using photos and memorabilia to creating an incredible experience, not just an art show. We have photos from pre-katrina, just after the storm 2 1/2 years after and this 5th year.
