Shattered

Well after a day taping. 2 days cutting, a day sand blasting, an afternoon removing tape and an hour or so taping a blue tarp on the back… and only one second for Dini the dog to smash into it head first shattering

The lesson learned again… it’s all temporary-

See what is left of it at the show Sunday!

I guess I should show you the finished glass?

Hurricane Damage – etched glass

I found the table along the road . When I tell you it just fit in my Geo Tracker-    I mean one inch more and it was a no go. The image is that of Katrina on August 29th. I tried to mimic the image as close I could.

First everything is coated with tan masking tape. Then Curt and I tore shreds of blue masking tape creating our image. If that sounds fun then we took 2 afternoons and used exacto blades to cut around each tiny piece. Tape is peeled away exposing the naked glass which will be sand blasted.

Sand blasting is miserable work. Curt and I went out early in the morning when it was only 88 degrees. We were covered from head to tow including a welders mask. Mine was so fogged up from the humidity that i could barely see. The sand bounces at you and stings like little bug bites. The humidity caused our sand to be sticky- all in all when the bucket was ending we quit. Next we bought a bottle of liquid etch- I applying that outside in 105 degree heat.

It worked great – except the heat made the tape sticky… and what you see is a few hours of scraping and do- gooing!

Come see how it all comes together, On the 5th anniversary of Katrina

The Bottom of Louisiana

Curt, Tina and I drove to the end of the state to see what we could of the oil spill. Also to spend money in the local economy!

Most people don’t really understand that history is being made everyday and we are all a part of it. It was very important to be a witness! Television lacks reality lately- fluff fluff fluff

We didn’t know what to expect – but what we didn’t expect was ‘not much’ going on! There was an eerie lack of activity! We had seen bigger staging areas at movie shoots in Shreveport! VERY Disappointing!

Day 84 We left Shreveport on  to a gushing wound of a 100 uncapped well- about 60,ooo barrels of oil a day!

Day 87 We made it to the bottom of Louisiana- and saw this.

Day 88 We woke in New Orleans to see the capped well! Thank GOD!

Day 111 They are trying to say that about 4 million barrels of oil are gone! Dissipated, disappeared, and just flippin flew away… which leaves one million barrels unaccounted for even by their own admission…

ONLY TIME WILL TELL- oh and the cement isn’t dry and BP is contemplating digging in the same area already!

A big dead fish, a bird near a docked fishing boat with boom instead of nets. Crab traps and boats sat docked instead of out in the Gulf.

Like everyone there I fear that BP is going to cut and run…
